trip home

Hello Everyone,
Greetings from Heathrow Airport. London, England.
We left Nairobi, Kenya at 12 midnight, Friday the 8th. Eight hour flight into London. Long lines at security, buses transfers, and a 1 hour and 15 minute layover combined into new flight plans. we now get to stay at heathrow until 5 pm (Kenya time), 8 hour flight into Chicago, 3 hour layover there and then a flight into Charlotte. We will arrive there at midnight Saturday night (EST), but our bodies will be on Kenya time, 8 AM Sunday morning.
We had a very productive trip. We visited 50 schools in 3 days and between the two teams, we distributed over 35, 000 books. I will tell more about the trip when I've had a little more than a couple of hours of sleep.
Thanks for all the prayers. we are almost home.

1/2 Way Thru

Hello Everyone. Everything is going really well. We have just left from the church in Mathare Valley where we were having the free medical clinic. We had from 3 to 7 doctor's volunteering their time to help us. We saw around 1200 people. The missionaries wife said that she had never seen this many sick, 85% of the people seen were sick. A mother brought her 2 year old daughter in yesterday, they fastracked her thru the line to see the docs ASAP. The doctor diagnosed her as anemic, having malaria, de-hydrated, and pnuemonia. They started her on an IV, distributed anti-biotics, and gave her a mission note to allow her to go the hospital. We were told that if we had not been having the free medical clinic that mother would not have been able to have a doctor see her baby. The doctor said that the child would have died that night without help. T
If this was the only reason for this trip then that was worth it all to save a child's life.
We are on the way to Nakuru now.
The reason for no pics, slow internet, and not much time. Will post when able.
Keep the prayers coming.
Steph and Gabbi, I'll be home soon.
Thanks to all.

Take Off!!

Hello Everybody,

A Big hello from Charlotte Douglas Airport in Charlotte, NC. The first leg of our trip on the way to Chicago. Three hours layover there and then onto Heathrow Airport in London. Fourteen layo ver there and then on Tuesday night at 8 PM we will board another flight for an eight hours flight into Nairobi Kenya. Please pray for a member of our group, her father lives in New York City and he was attacked on Sunday by a gang and set on fire. He is now in a coma and they are un-sure about the outcome right now. She is still going on this trip so please say a word of prayer for her father and for her. Pray for her peace of mind.
We made it through check in and security with no problems. No fun leaving Steph and Gabby Ray, but I know God will watch out over them while I am gone.

I'll post the next time I have wireless available.

Till next time,
daryl

WOW!

KENYA.........................

Boy oh Boy! This past month and a half has been a whirlwind. Traveling, new baby, weddings, photo shoots, and getting ready for the mission trip to Kenya. Busy and not setting time out to write.

Well, here is a brief note. We are gettting ready to go in less than 48 hours. I am going to truly miss Stephanie and Gabrielle. I was in D.C. the first of this week for a few days and that was hard being away. 13 days is going to be touch but she is much loved and Steph will give her plenty of kisses for me.

We were packing up today all of the medical supplies we are taking to Kenya. Over $14,000 worth of medical supplies was donated. We also had enough money left over to purchase over 1000 adult doses of malaria medicine and we will be given, by the World Health Organization, just as many doses for children at no charge.

Check back as I will post as often as internet connections allow.

Thank to all who helped out financially. Between donations and business God has sent us we were able to take care of trip expenses and purchase the extra equipment that was needed to complete the job God laid out for me to do.

Keep Our team, my family, and me in your prayers.

Sincerely,

daryl

P.S. A recent pic of my baby girl...

Feed Store...See below

Felix's Fish Camp resturant. Spanish Fort, AL. It's got the best crab soup I've ever had. Thanks for meeting us there B.K. It was good to see you.

Robertsdale Feed Store...loading docks.
Hometown feed store, I remember, as a small boy, going there and climbing on the stacks of feed and fertilizer all inside...
Still a thriving business, thanks to an old classmate of mine, Brian Johnson, that took it over a number of years ago.

Mobile Bay as seen from the Eastern Shore...
Fairhope, AL, Point Clear is right down the bay, Jimmy Buffet's home town

Resturant out on Fairhope Pier, Bob Pope, owner, long time acquaintance. Owned and operated this resturant for the past 30 plus years, through countless hurricanes and re-builds.
Bob the seafood platter was great. Loved the fried crab claws.

Baby Gabby is doing fine. Getting plenty of lovin' from the grandparents...
